As Victor Hugo once said, “Laughter is the sun that drives winter from the human face,” and up to now nobody has been able to do this better than Charlie Chaplin, who is famous as a master of humour. He brightened the lives of Americas and British through two world wars and hard years in between. He made people laugh at a time when they felt depressed, so they feel more content with their lives.
Humour is the essential element(必要的元素) in our daily life. A person without humour is just like spring without flowers . A sense of humour is universally considered the most valuable personality, which plays an important role in our life.
For example, there was a time when I felt very depressed because of my poor school record. I was afraid to fail to live up to my parents’ expectations (达到我父母的希望). At that time, it was the humour stories told by my good friend that drove winter from my face and brightened my life (点亮了我的生活). I regained (重新获得)the courage and I am getting on well with my study now.
To sum up (总之), humour is a switch (转换机), which can turn pains, frustration(挫折), embarrassment and many other things into happiness. Let’s be happy. If our life is full of humour, our world will become more wonderful.
